Luminate Programme Launch13th September 2016
Luminate takes place from 1st to 31st October, and our programme for this year's festival has now been launched.
This year we have collaborated with Stills, Centre for Photography, on the Luminate Challenge. It is a chance for you to create something new this summer, enjoy yourself and share it with others around the country.
Companies, organisations and individuals are invited to put forward an event to be included in Luminate 2016.

Luminate Poetry Slam returns for the fourth year. We're calling poetry lovers of all ages everywhere!
We are thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for anyone living in Scotland to be part of our festival. The Luminate Photography Challenge is a chance for you to create something new this summer, enjoy yourself and share it with others around the country.
October 2015 will once again see an innovative and vibrant nationwide programme offering a wealth of creative experiences that prove that creativity has no age. Organisations and individuals are invited to put an event forward to be a part of it.
October is the month to be out and about enjoying yourself during Luminate, taking part in the array of events from Shetland to Dumfries and Galloway. During Luminate, wherever you are there will be an event happening on your doorstep.

Following its huge success in 2012 and 2013, the Luminate Poetry Slam will be back again this year at Ghillie Dhu, Rutland Place Edinburgh on Sunday 12 October.
Plans are now underway to ensure that this year’s festival will again embrace the length and breadth of Scotland with an even more wide-ranging programme than last year.
As part of Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing festival, there is a unique opportunity to hear one of Scotland’s most talented and best-loved writers Jackie Kay at Lochgelly Library, Lochgelly on Wednesday 23 October at 7pm.
During October Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing festival, is presenting a wealth of dance and physical theatre events stretching from Aberdeen to Greenock.
This year, Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing festival includes a specially curated film programme, screening in cinemas across Scotland during October. Chosen for their varied representations of older people, the films have something to say to all of us about our understanding of age and ageing.

One of the Festival’s first year highlights, the Luminate Slam will be back again this year at the Ghillie Dhú, Rutland Place, in the heart of Edinburgh, for one night on Sunday 13 October and is open for entries from competitors from now on.
Luminate includes an independently-run programme from artists, cultural organisations and community groups, and we are now inviting submissions for 2013.

Throughout October, Scotland’s newest festival, Luminate will throw a spotlight on over 200 inspirational arts activities – many of them free – with, and for older people, as well as events for audiences and participants across the generations.
Creative Scotland, the Baring Foundation and Age Scotland are delighted to announce that ‘Luminate’ has been selected as the name for Scotland’s brand new national festival that will celebrate arts, creativity and ageing.
