Consultation: Older people and music education

We want to hear your voice

Tuesday 19 June 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Betty's Room, 5th Floor, 137 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3EW

Take part in our public consultation about older people and adult music education. If you have started learning music, playing an instrument or singing, in your later life and would like to share your thoughts about your experience, we'd love to hear from you!

We would like to hear from individuals and organisations involved in adult music education in Scotland. If you are an older learner, music leader or teacher, we would like to invite you to take part in our focus group to join the debate about how to better support progress in learning music.

On 5 March 2018, the Music Commission launched its first call for public  evidence, with a survey containing a series of specific questions around the role of progress and progression in the development of a musical life.

Luminate is hosting a focus group to create a fuller representation of both older learners and the Scottish voice in this research. The aims of the focus group are to discuss the Commission's questions and put together a collaborative statement for submission, and to explore potential implications and possibilities for Luminate's future work across Scotland.

This event will be informal and relaxed, and you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts on learning music later in life. Refreshments will be provided. Please book your place in advance.
